This is of Value to No One.
Just a simple concert story.
So, this year I went to Louder Than Life music festival for the first time.
SUN: METALLICA AGAIN (yeah, if I died right after this set it would have been fine.)
With my favorite bands ever all headlining (no Slipknot though) it was sure to be a good time.
Though my favorite part of the extended weekend was in the pit (as it always is.
No, this wasn’t Astroworld where people were dying in the crowd.
This is a rock show: this is a love story that I was lucky enough to be a part of.
Though this happened many months ago there was only one person I thought to tell right after and no one else needed to know till I told her.
I told her.
Now it’s your turn.
So first thing you need to know is I’m a person that attracts a certain kind of attention that most people don’t understand until they’re with me in public a few times.
I'd explain, but it'd only sound crazy.
Anyways, so I'm at the festival rocking out having a good time playing hackysack when I decided I feel like getting in the pit.
So I make my dash.
(Takes me on average 2 - 3 minutes to get in the middle sometimes longer if people are being real dicks about it)
So, I get to the pit and get to the other side when I find I’ve been joined by and older gentlemen in his 50’s or 60’s with his similarly aged wife.
He's looking in her eyes and I see a group of maybe 4 guys standing behind him.
He says his sort of "see ya soons"
Then he lightly pusher her towards me and makes eye contact.
His eyes say "this is my wife of many years, she means the world to me, please protect her for me."
I looked at him and said "dont worry, I got her."
He and whom I now am pretty confident were his sons jump into the pit and have a good time.
Then the death crush comes, the boys made a wall stopping the crowd from behind while I covered her left and right. She leaned back ro protect herself from the front.
She danced on me a little so I gave her a little hip wiggle back and her husband looked back like "dude, what the fuck." Which was quickly duplicated by one of his sons.
I just replied "the lady wanted a good time, I just gave her a little thrill you're good, now watch the crowd."
Near the mid point of the show Dad's had his fill, I kept some randos off his wife and passed her back.
Of the entire weekend, that was definitely my favorite part that I'll never forget.
She was dressed soooo inappropriately for the scene.
Like, think older Russian woman, with a fur coat that's married to the mob boss.
She was like that.
He was dressed like an old farmer boy.
Seeing the love between them and his being willing to trust her to me.
That was amazing.
So yeah, that’s my Louder Than Life story.
For those curious I have no idea what set this was during.
To be honest I do t even remember what day it was anymore.
Saturday or Sunday I believe.
Anyways, that’s my story.
Hope you enjoyed it because I really wanted to share that moment with someone.
I hope you can see them like I still can.
I promise, however it looks in your head, it was definitely better.
